Do You Let Your Child Watch Toy Unboxing Videos?

Toy unboxing videos are a popular and entertaining way for children to learn about new toys and engage in imaginative play.

According to Dave Neal, a research associate from Cambridge University focusing on early years play, these unboxing videos can have a positive impact if they encourage children to play with toys, and explore them in a deeper way.

“Playing is a vital part of early development, it teaches us language skills and emotional regulation, how to share, and the interaction is a bonding experience, so anything that encourages play is essentially a good thing,” he says in an article in BBC

However, Neal is also concerned that these videos may give children shallow engagement by cutting off time spent to figure out how the toy works on their own.

Moreover, some parents believe that this kind of content promotes materialism in kids, not to mention the negative effects of excessive screen time on a child’s development.

But make no mistake about it, watching these toy unboxing videos give our child entertainment and help them to become more discerning of the toys that they want to buy.
