Top 6 sex myths busted

How much do you really know about sex? Check out how many of this common myths you already know the truth about!
Men are hornier than women

Men are hornier than women

Sex is not always at the top of a man's mind all the time. The typical mindset is that men have higher sex drives than women, perhaps because of the stereotype that women tend to be less expressive about their sexual desires (another thing which is not true for all ladies).

But come on, men are normal human beings too and they have to deal with other pressing issues such as finances and work.

Fact: Regardless of gender, everyone's sex drives are affected by the same factors such as sleep, diet, health, stress, medical conditions and self-confidence.

The bigger, the better

The bigger, the better

Ah, this question never ends. Does size matter? In a way, a bigger penis might make a man more self-confident—which as we have discussed, affects sex drive. And typically, when you are confident, you are also comfortable, thus will be able to perform better.

Fact: The thing is, confidence does not come from the size of one's penis alone. A man with a smaller member may know how to work it better, just like how a well-endowed man who does not know what to do with his gift can be at the losing end.

It's just like how some men are not necessarily attracted to large breasts or big booties!

Women hate porn

Women hate porn

Men and women alike are equally attracted to depictions of sex in the media. Again, this myth is possibly because women are generally less vocal than men about consuming pornography. (Maybe if the double standards doesn't exist this will not be the case!) Not to mention, most porn materials are tailored towards men.

Fact: Women enjoy porn just as men do. Perhaps some some of the ladies just prefer to read than to watch—after all, Fifty Shades of Grey outsold The Da Vinci Code and the first Harry Potter book.

(Psst, also, not all women are against their man watching porn.)

Men peak sexually at 18, women at 28

Men peak sexually at 18, women at 28

The misconception that men hit their sexual peak at the end of their teens while women in their thirties stems from the age at which supply of sex hormones peak for the respective genders. Testosterone supply peaks in men in late teens to early twenties whereas oestrogen peaks in a woman's late twenties.

Fact: The peak of sex hormones supply does not necessarily equate to peak sexual performance. What counts is that you try to be great in bed at any age.

Let's skip oral and get to the real thing

Let's skip oral and get to the real thing

The journey is as important as the destination. So don't neglect foreplay as it can help you and your partner get in the mood to make love.

Oral sex is one of the main acts of foreplay, but it tend to get overlooked as it may be perceived as less intense or pleasurable than the actual intercourse.

Fact: Give oral sex a chance! It is a great way to stimulate arousal and bond with your spouse.

Woman can only orgasm through intercourse

Woman can only orgasm through intercourse

This cannot be more wrong. Intercourse is great and all, sure, but they are not the only way to the Big O. Show the rest of her body some loving too—a different kind of sensory stimulation might just get her going!

Fact: It is very likely for your lady to not reach the Big O through intercourse alone. Many women need clitoris stimulation as well, and sometimes breast and nipple stimulation too. Every person is different and the best way to satisfy your partner is to keep experimenting and discover which buttons are the right ones to push.
