1. Masak Masak: My Childhood at National Museum Singapore

Running from 24 May 2014 to 3 August 2014

Best for kids aged 3 to 7 years old

Step back in time and take your kids on a journey through Masak Masak: ‘My Childhood’. The exhibition will showcase a number of traditional playgrounds and life-sized games from the past, along with the latest inventions and concepts from international artists to keep things up-to-date!

Kids will be able to interact with the exhibit and watch special screenings too – it’ll definitely be a unique play date to remember!

Also, you won’t want to miss its back-to-school weekend running on 20 & 21 June from 6pm – 9.30pm. Kids can watch a variety of special film screenings under the Banyan tree and marvel at even more play-themed installations.

2. PLAY @ National Museum Singapore

The National Museum of Singapore (NMS) kicks of the school holidays with the opening of [email protected] The first dedicated area for young children to take their first steps towards museum-going, with interactive exhibits and special activities that encourage learning through play.

Inspired by the Museum’s collection, your young ones will have the opportunity to express themselves through the various curated programmes that will stimulate their curious minds and tap into their creativity.

3. Once Upon a Time in Asia: The Story Tree at Asian Civilisations Museum

Running from 31 May to 2 November 2014; 10am – 5pm

A workshop for all the family to enjoy, Once Upon a Time in Asia will take you and your mini-explorers on a mission to find out interesting facts and trivia about trees!

Kids will utilise all of their senses as they hear, taste, touch, see and smell out the secrets of trees, while listening to stories of Asian heritage being told in the galleries.

 

4. The League Against Evil at Singapore Philatelic Museum

Running from 5 June – 31 August

Superhero fans are in for a treat! As BATMAN celebrates its 75th anniversary, you can see the only DC Comics Super Heroes exhibition in Asia – right here in Singapore!

Held in conjunction with Warner Bros, features include stamp collections from the museum’s permanent collection and Singapore Post MyStamps. Plus artwork, original comic pages and super hero collectables.

This will surely be one event that parents and kids will enjoy!

5. Family Fun with Clay Art at NUS Museum

Running on Saturday 7 & 14 June 2014; 2pm – 4.30pm
Price: $50 per parent & child pair
Best for kids aged 7 to 12 years old

Kids and parents are invited to this fun workshop spread over two Saturdays. Learn about the history and method of clay art while spending some quality time together!

Discover your creative side as you sculpt a figure or ornament and work as a team with your little one to master the technique!

Be inspired by the works of the late Singaporean artist, Ng Eng Teng, who received the cultural medallion. Plus, take home your creations for display in your own home!

Note: Materials to be used are all kid-friendly.

 

6. Barter Trading workshop at Singapore Coins and Notes Museum

Running Thursdays, 29 May & 5, 12, 19 & 26 June 2014; 3pm – 5pm

Ever wondered why Singapore is called “The Lion City”? Kids can find out why — among other things — at this interactive workshop.

It starts with a fun story-telling session, followed by a bartering game to see how people traded with one another in centuries past. Kids will also have a guided tour through the whole museum.

7. A Race Against Time: Memories at Old Ford Factory

Running 14 & 15 June 2014; 10am – 11.30am, 12.30pm – 2pm & 2.30pm – 4pm

Best for kids aged 7 to 12 years old

Kids will journey back to the Japanese occupation of Singapore in the early 1940s and will be up against the clock to find medicine for a sick friend. This role-play style workshop will see them faced with unthinkable challenges and help to connect their minds with the hardships present during World War II.

8. CADETS, FALL IN! at Army Museum of Singapore

Running from 24 May – 29 June 2014* every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
FREE entrance for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents (Other admission charges apply)
Best for kids aged 6 to 12 years old

Have a go at basic military training at the Army Museum of Singapore. This 2-hour training programme includes activities like mock grenade-throwing and simulated marksmanship training, plus kids will get to experience the rite of “hair-cutting.”

They’ll even get to graduate and take part in a mini Passing Out Parade!

9. “Folktales, Fables & Fantastic Futures: Stories We Share” at Singapore Discovery Centre

Running until 30 June, 9am – 6pm

A special exhibition that lets you travel the world and discover the value of culture. Be entertained by stories and performing arts showcasing the different aspects of culture, and the importance it has in society.

Hands-on activities include a Filipino Tinikling dance gallery, plus stories from 10 different countries in the Embassy Showcase.

 

10. Maritime Singapore Awaits Your Discovery

Running from 24 May – 29 June 2014, Daily except Monday
FREE entrance
Best for kids aged 3 to 12 years old

Find out about Maritime Singapore – one of the busiest ports in the world! See how it all works and learn the history behind its rise from a small entrepot to the scale it is today.

An interactive journey awaits you, which you can either do at your own pace or with other people in a free guided tour. Tours take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 10am, 2pm & 3.30pm.
