It’s important for both women and men trying to conceive to be in the best shape possible to increase the chances of getting pregnant and giving birth to a healthy baby. For dads-to-be, especially, there are 7 aspects of your lifestyle you’ll want to reevaluate to make sure you’re doing your part.

1. Regulate your BMI

Men should maintain a healthy BMI of 20-25 if they are trying to conceive. Lower or higher BMI’s are associated with reduced sperm count. When trying to conceive, get your BMI checked out with your doctor and ask questions how to get to a healthy BMI.

2. Watch your diet

What you eat is important in so many ways — from maintaining a healthy BMI to keeping your little swimmers working at their best. When trying to conceive, you should especially try to include zinc, folates and Vitamin C in your diet. You can drink your cup of coffee everyday, but definitely avoid the alcohol when possible!

3. Try to relax

While there isn’t as much concrete research to prove a definite link between stress and infertility in men as there is in women, scientists agree that it’s definitely not healthy for anyone trying to conceive. So try to relax as much as you can, and let your body find its natural rhythm. It will help everyone during entire process,— at least mentally!
