Do you feel frustrated because your kids always wake up late on Saturdays and Sundays? Are they beginning to get on your nerves for lazing in bed during weekends? Well, you may have to relax a bit. Experts say that the extra hours of sleep that they get during weekends, may actually be good for them.
Studies show that children who have longer sleeping hours were less likely to grow overweight. According to research, having just a few hours of sleep every night can lead to a disturbance in the body’s metabolism.
After asking about 5,000 parents on their school children’s sleeping habits, diet and lifestyle, researchers from the Chinese University of Hong Kong concluded that overweight children had shorter sleep durations than their peers who had normal weight.
So, parents, it wouldn’t hurt to let your children have those precious hours of much-needed sleep during weekends knowing that it could actually prevent them from becoming overweight.
