"My wife was boring lah *laughs*, she announced her pregnancy to me through Whatsapp. Nonetheless, I was pretty overjoyed and even announced it to the whole office! I couldn't stop talking about it for the whole day. I got home and gave her the biggest hug ever, because I realised that I was going to start a family with the woman I love, and I wanted to show her how much I loved her."
Han Wei, 29
"So my wife just got pregnant 5 months ago, and she actually Googled for a picture of an ultrasound to print out! She placed the picture in an envelope and put it in our letterbox, because I was the one who collected our mail. One day after work, I went to our letterbox as per normal, and found an envelope that had my name on it. I waited till I was home to open it, and boy was I glad that I did!
I got home and saw that my wife was in the shower - I went on to open the envelope. At first, I was a little confused- I didn't know what it was, but after staring at the picture for about 15 seconds, it hit me! I knocked on the bathroom door and told my wife that I needed to come in immediately. I opened the door and went straight into the shower to hug and kiss her! My wife was pregnant! She laughed and told me that I was gross for stepping into the shower with my work clothes on, but I could tell that she was as happy as I was. The wet clothes were worth it!"
Nizam, 33
"My wife took the pregnancy test while I waited outside. I wanted to be there with her when she found out, so we could celebrate it together! When the test came back positive, we both cried. I don't usually cry but I guess I was just so happy knowing that I was going to be a father, that the tears just fell."
Marcus, 27
"I first found out that I was going to be a dad when my wife started throwing up in the morning. As she didn't fall sick often, I suspected something was amiss because we had been trying for a child. She never told me anything though, until one day when she came home and handed me a book on baby names and told me to look through it. I looked at her and asked if it was true, and she said yes! We both hugged and stayed up all night, trying to decide on our baby's name. It was one of the most special days of my life. We picked 'Tiara' for our gorgeous baby girl."
Syafiq, 40
"3 years ago when my wife and I found out that we were going to have our first child, she had left me a trail of baby socks on our living room floor, leading up to our bedroom. I came home and saw it, and thought that one of her nephews had come over (it looked pretty messy to me). So I followed the trail of socks and into the bedroom, where I found a box that was neatly wrapped on my bed.
I opened it and saw the positive pregnancy test, and my heart skipped a beat. My wife then jumped out of the closet (silly woman tried to scare me) and yelled, "SURPRISE! I'M PREGNANT!" and threw a handful of baby socks my way. I can't tell you what I felt because I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I teared up. We had been trying for about 2 years and it felt unreal that it finally worked- I was going to be one kick-ass dad!
Paul, 39
"She placed a bun in our oven. YES, LITERALLY! I asked her why was there bread in there, and even called her silly for not turning the oven on! Took me 5 hours to get it, but I eventually did! And boy, was I elated! Thankfully, my wife's creativity has been passed on to my son!"
Anish, 35
"It's a pretty funny story because one day, she told me that she had made dinner reservations for 3 at our usual date-night restaurant. I asked if her mother was joining us or if someone else was coming along, and all she said was, "Show up and you'll know". So I did, and I didn't see anyone there except her. So I asked her again if anyone else was coming, and she said, "No, but tonight's reservation is for a family of 3".
I jokingly suggested if she failed math because clearly there were two of us here, but when she declined having her favourite red wine and opted for water instead, I suddenly realised that I was an idiot. And that we were about to welcome a newbie to our family!"
