With the steady drop in the number of Covid-19 community cases, Singapore will get to gradually reopen and move to phase 3 (heightened alert). Restrictions will be eased progressively in two stages and soon people will get to gather in up to groups of five again.
In a statement on Thursday (10 June), the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that Singapore will move to phase 3 from 14 June.

Further relaxation of restrictions can be expected should the current situation remain under control. When it does, further re-opening of Singapore during phase 3 will take place on 21 June.
Once Singapore goes under phase 3 (heightened alert), here’s what people can expect with the two steps:
- The current two-person limit for social gatherings will be raised to five persons. Although, MOH strongly advises the public to limit social gatherings to only two a day.
- The ministry adds that working from home will remain the defaults setting to reduce interaction in public areas within or outside workplaces and on public transport.
- Dining in at food and beverage outlets being allowed again.
- Operating capacity limits for attractions, cruises, museums and public libraries will go up to 5o per cent.
- Group size limits for movie screenings, live performances, worship services and weddings will also see an increase.
- In-person tuition and enrichment classes may also resume for those aged 18 years old and below. This is as long as enhanced safe management measures are in place.
“We may continue to see a few cases every day, but that’s the nature of the virus. What we hope and aim to do is to keep the number low overall and avoid large clusters,” says Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong, as per The Straits Times.
