SG60 List: Singtel’s National Day Film Celebrates 60 Years of Progress and Connectivity

In honour of Singapore’s 60th year of independence, Singtel has released a powerful National Day film titled “Majulah Singapura”—a poignant reflection of how far the nation has come since its first National Day Parade in 1966. More than just a tribute, the film is a heartfelt celebration of how communications technology has paralleled and propelled the city-state’s transformation from a humble beginning into a world-class digital nation.

Narrated by Singtel Group CEO Mr Yuen Kuan Moon, the film blends historic black-and-white footage with vibrant present-day visuals, capturing the striking evolution of Singapore’s identity and the integral role technology has played in that journey.

From Parade Grounds to 5G Connectivity

The film opens at City Hall, the site of Singapore’s first National Day Parade, and takes viewers on a journey through six decades of national celebration. Archival footage of President Yusof Ishak and Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew sets the historical tone, while today’s scenes show how technology—particularly Singtel’s 5G+ mobile network—has changed the way Singaporeans connect with each other and with the world.

In 2025, livestreaming the parade from a phone, sharing the moment in real time, and experiencing ultra-fast connections are all part of the new normal, enabled by world-class network infrastructure. From copper to fibre optics, and 3G to 5G+, the advancements have been constant and game-changing.

Empowering Singapore’s Digital Future

Singtel’s contributions go beyond connectivity at the parade. Its 5G+ technology is now being leveraged to power advancements in smart ports, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing, positioning Singapore as a testbed for global innovation.

With the world’s first nationwide deployment of consumer-focused network slicing, Singtel is ensuring users experience unparalleled reliability and speed—even in dense, high-traffic environments. This step-forward technology reflects not only Singtel’s commitment to innovation, but also Singapore’s readiness to lead the digital future in Southeast Asia and beyond.

A Gift to Celebrate SG60

To mark the milestone, Singtel is offering all National Day Parade attendees a free 60-day trial of its top-tier 5G+ SIM-Only Priority Plus plan. With benefits such as guaranteed network access, ultra-low latency, and speeds up to four times faster than standard connections, the offer is a taste of what Singapore’s digital future holds.

Singtel has been a consistent partner in the National Day Parade since 1976, providing not only network infrastructure but also marching contingents. This year’s film and special SG60 campaign are natural extensions of a long-standing commitment to national service and innovation.

Majulah, Digitally and Nationally

As Singapore steps confidently into the next chapter of its story, the message of “Majulah Singapura” is as relevant as ever. Through this National Day film, Singtel reminds us all that our journey—from kampongs to smart cities—has always been powered by connection: to each other, to opportunity, and to the future.
