SG60 List: Barbie Gets Her Wings to Celebrate SG60 and Empower Local Kids

SG60 List: Barbie Gets Her Wings to Celebrate SG60 and Empower Local Kids

From 25 June to 1 July 2025, Marina Square transforms into a vibrant celebration of creativity and compassion with Wings of Art 2025—proudly recognised as Singapore’s longest Barbie runway. Featuring 1,060 Barbies adorned with bespoke wings, each piece tells a story of transformation, hope, and imagination.

Created by 60 Singapore-based artists, these winged Barbies line the runway at the Round Atrium (Level 2), drawing crowds of families, collectors, and art enthusiasts. The SG60 spirit of unity shines through as art and nostalgia blend seamlessly to celebrate 60 years of Singapore’s progress through creativity.

Interactive Fun for Families and Young Creators

Beyond its striking visuals, Wings of Art 2025 encourages hands-on participation. Interactive Winged Barbie Workshops invite children and families to design their own Barbies using sustainable and recycled materials. These pre-registered sessions not only nurture creativity but also educate participants about eco-conscious art-making.

The Metamorphosis Photobooth & Imagination Zone offers another immersive experience—visitors can dress up, craft their own mini-wings, and capture the SG60 spirit in themed photo installations. Local creative brands collaborate to bring unique props and costumes, giving every visitor a chance to feel like part of the runway.

Charity Auction for a Worthy Cause

At the heart of Wings of Art 2025 is the Wings of Art Charity Auction, running from 25 June to 31 July 2025. The theme, “60 Artists, 60 Winged Barbies, 1 Purpose,” reflects the event’s mission: 100% of auction proceeds benefit the Singapore Red Cross Young Hearts Programme, which supports education, mentorship, and social activities for underprivileged children.

Visitors can view the artist catalogue and bid either through the physical kiosk at Marina Square or the online portal. By combining art and charity, the event empowers local youths, turning a beloved childhood icon into a symbol of hope and opportunity.

Art, Nostalgia, and Social Impact

The event’s organisers, Peace of Art SG, have long advocated for art as a force for community good. By reimagining Barbie—a global pop culture icon—through the lens of sustainability and inclusivity, Wings of Art 2025 not only entertains but also inspires visitors to give back.

The use of recycled materials in workshops and displays also aligns with Singapore’s broader sustainability goals, reflecting how creativity can serve as a tool for education, social change, and environmental consciousness.

SG60 Reflection: Unity Through Creativity

As Singapore turns 60, Wings of Art 2025 perfectly embodies the SG60 theme of unity through creativity. It celebrates the nation’s artistic talent, encourages young minds to create sustainably, and channels art towards empowering those in need.

Every winged Barbie on the runway symbolises transformation—a reminder that even the simplest childhood joys can become powerful catalysts for change when paired with collective goodwill. SG60 celebrates not just the art on display, but the generosity and unity it inspires.
