Science Centre Singapore's Activities This September
Here are the September activities lined up at the Science Centre Singapore that you can enjoy with the kids.
From 3 to 12 September 2021, Science Centre Singapore and its Group of Attractions will operate daily from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm. We will revert to the usual operating hours from 17 September 2021. Do visit www.science.edu.sg/visit-us/opening-hours for the latest opening hours.
1. Be An Energy Saver Gallery Hunt
Learn about energy and sustainability with our paid Science Centre Singapore and Be An Energy Saver Gallery Hunt bundled package! Activities include:

Multiple Galleries
Complete various missions around the galleries and collect 15 stars to redeem an “I’m A Young Energy Saver” badge. Be sure to swing by the newly opened Energy Story exhibition for the full experience!

Scientist for A Day, Hall A
Find out which item uses more energy: the incandescent bulb or the LED lamp.
Incandescent Bulb vs LED (Part 2)*
The Tinkering Studio, Hall E
Design your own experiment to determine whether an LED is more energy efficient than an incandescent bulb.

The Friendship of Sun, Earth and Moon

Much of our understanding of the world originates from investigating visible light. In this workshop, you get to assemble your own laser-cut spectroscope and use it to explore the surprising variety in the composition of light from common sources. This workshop aims to cultivate an interest in using basic physical phenomena as tools for scientific exploration.

3. That’s Gross Science Show
Ever found yourself going “eeee” at poop and pee stains on the toilet seat, or exclaiming “ewww” at the sight of mucus dripping down a nose? Learn about the many unpleasant yet very important substances excreted by our bodies at That’s Gross Science Show! You’re guaranteed to leave the show yelling “that’s gross!”

4. KidsSTOPTM Academy Activities Week
Join us for some fun and educational hands-on activities at KidsSTOPTM this school holidays! Kids will get to learn more about science from creating and playing with their personalised craft, which they will get to bring home at the end of the session.
Activity 1: Bottle Airplane
Learn more about energy transfer by creating an airplane with a propeller that spins.
Activity 2: Little Astronaut Light Up Card
Blast off to space in our KidsSTOPTM rocket with the help of a DIY LED circuit card.

5. Cook and Click Challenge
Whip up a scrumptious plant-based meal with your kid and learn professional food styling tips from award-winning photographer, Wilfred Lim. Register for this onsite workshop to ace your next Instagram shoot!
Participants are encouraged to bring decorative props, and capture their culinary masterpiece using their own mobile phones.

6. The Pom-fect Journey

7. Dinosaurs of Antarctica

1. Science At Home
To continue sparking curiosity, wonder and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.), Science Centre Singapore’s dedicated team of Science Educators have curated the Science at Home series – a stay-home series offering a myriad of online resources across different formats and topics, specially curated for all age groups!

The evergreen I Am A Young Scientist Badge is now available online!
Together with your child, explore over ten Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) topics through myriad of self-directed activities. Plus, work on various hands-on experiments and activities from popular cards such as I Am A Young Zoologist, I Am A Young Botanist, I Am A Young Food Scientist, I Am A Young Geologist and many more on our online portal. 4. The Curiosity Shop on LAZADA

1. Brain Fest: Panic! At the Museum
Science Centre Singapore’s signature mass escape game is back this year with a brand new theme! Join us as we Panic! At the Museum and race against time to restore the missing pieces at the Da Vinci museum before the characters come alive to trap us in their place… forever!

2. Truly Madly Science Camps 2021
From learning to survive in the wild to playing popular video games, building interesting machines and conducting science experiments, the Science Centre Singapore’s Truly Madly Science Camps are back by popular demand!
Bringing real-world science to life through exciting experiences, the camps provide an interactive learning environment for children aged 10 to 12 years old to grasp new science concepts.
3. Mission Discovery Singapore 2021
Sign up for a STEM course titled Mission Discovery Singapore 2021 that is designed and led by NASA astronauts and expert educators. During this course, students will get to:
• Meet and work with experienced astronauts
• A chance to have their experiment launched into space
• Undergo NASA leadership and team building activities
Divided into teams, students will be instructed to propose a science experiment idea. The best idea will be launched into space and carried out by astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
With the help of brilliant astronauts, NASA role models, astronaut trainers, NASA personnel, scientists and engineers, students will learn more about space and STEM through various exhilarating hands-on activities.
