Women experience mild to severe back pain during pregnancy. Well, that is not shocking. The extra stress of the increased weight, changed body alignment and changed posture are the reasons why most women experience pain in their back. For many women, the discomfort can become a permanent problem.
There is also a small percentage of women who experience back pain because of a condition known as sciatica. This condition is caused when there is additional pressure on the sciatica nerve. With this additional pressure, the nerve may become inflamed and cause extreme pain.
Back pain can be prevented if you ensure that before your pregnancy, you are fit and healthy. However, if you are not completely fit, you may start to exercise as soon as you are pregnant. Do make sure that you discuss this with your doctor beforehand and get advice on what is the best way to exercise during pregnancy.
