Two kids were caught on camera crying while saying sorry to their mum. This happened after they accidentally ordered an 86-inch TV using their mum’s phone.

The TV cost was around $ 3,300. While taking a video of her sons crying, she calmly asked them what they did.

“What happened here?” the mum asked. “Did you order this on my phone.. without asking? Did you know how much this was?”

The woman did not raise her voice while questioning her children throughout the video. However, her composure didn’t ease the loud cries of her sons.

“I’m sorry… I’m really sorry,” said the son to their mum.

Both of them kept apologizing and expressing their guilt for what they did. No matter what their mum said, they just kept begging for forgiveness.

The Sun daily reposted the video of the two young boys on Tiktok. After just about 24 hours, the video attracted many netizens’ attention and went viral. It garnered over 100,000 likes and comments, with 2 million views.

Modern technology continues to change our lives forever. It has a massive impact on our everyday lives. The newest features of our smartphones and other devices make our daily tasks easier too.

Nowadays, we can effortlessly check the traffic, each day’s weather forecast, and look at our agenda. Additionally, online shopping has become more prevalent. In this age of digitalisation, purchasing stuff online is one of the main activities we do with our devices.

How Kids Spend Money on App or Programs

It is now easier to purchase online with just a few clicks on our smart devices. We can now easily buy something without the need to travel and go outside the comfort of our homes.

However, as much as we want to enjoy its benefits, new technologies have risks too. Nowadays, many mums on social media share their kid’s accidental purchases online.

Without their parents’ awareness, some children unintentionally purchase items online. However, we cannot entirely deprive them of all smart devices in order to avoid unintentional purchases.

Instead, we must provide a healthy education in using new technologies as responsible parents and guardians. We must let the kids understand that minor accidents could send us excessive bills at the end of the month.

One good way to assist our kids is by establishing a common space with them. We, parents, should limit their screen time and always accompany them while using a phone. Children need guidance on using applications on smartphones, tablets, or browsing the internet.

Avoiding unwanted oversights and accidental purchases online

Here are the things you can do to prevent unwanted oversights and accidental purchases online:

  • Use browser filters

Browser filters are one of the control measures that aim to protect children up to 10 years of age. Most internet browsers are specifically designed for our little ones. It provides a 100% secure environment for our children. It offers content and settings catered to the child’s age with games, videos and educational activities.

The feature that sets this tool apart is that it only allows access to sites on a safelist that have acceptable topics tailored to children’s learning needs. Browser filters strengthen parental control and remove advertising, eliminating the risk of making unplanned purchases.

  • Parental control programs

Aside from browser filters, parental control programs are also another good option. It protects minors from accessing inappropriate content or making an easy purchase online.

A configuration in the Windows or Apple systems can create a distinct account for kids. Parents can choose the time of use, games, and block applications to establish appropriate pages for their children.

  • Specific browsers for children

Instead of the common search engines available in most browsers, we can now use specialised versions for kids. Search engines such as Kiddle, Bunis or Child Browsers are a special tool for children. It can make powerful filtering for all inappropriate content for the kids.

  • Smartphone configuration

Smartphone configuration is beneficial to achieve greater security and protection for our children. Windows and Apple have the option of disabling the purchase option for specific applications.

Moreover, we can also set passwords in the settings section to make successful purchases online on iOS devices. Meanwhile, you can also utilise Android devices that have restrictions instead of passwords. It helps us protect our bank accounts from involuntary online purchases.
