Kid-friendly places in Hong Kong
Theme parks are a great place to start for any family vacation and Hong Kong is home to two famous attractions: Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park Hong Kong.
These theme parks promise fun-filled entertainment for the family with a little adrenaline rush mixed in for thrill-seeking kids and parents.
In visiting Hong Kong, you will either visit Hong Kong Disneyland or Ocean Park Hong Kong. On my 5-day trip, we decided to go to Hong Kong Disneyland.
Of course, you can visit these two; however, if it is a short trip, visiting two theme parks can be tiring and takes too much of your time.

Your kids will surely love the parades of characters, the castles, the theatre plays, and the rides!
In entering the premises, I suggest that you don’t bring any food that can spoil as the guards won’t allow it inside and will only throw them in the trash.
Some snacks like chips, cookies, or bread are allowed.

Make sure to stay until the end of the day around 8:30 PM to see the ‘Momentous’, a show filled with fireworks, different coloured lights, and Disney characters! Perfect to cap off your day!

Tips before you go to Hong Kong Disneyland:
- Bring a water tumbler with you as there are water refillers all around Disneyland. You will be walking and having fun all day, so better stay hydrated!
- If you will visit Hong Kong around May and June as we did, you need to ensure that your kids wear sunscreen and a cap or bring an umbrella as the weather is humid.
- Buy tickets online before your visit so you don’t have to fall in line for a long period. You also need to make an online park reservation to accommodate you right away, when you arrive at the theme park.
Ticket fees:
- Hong Kong Disneyland “2-Day Fun” Special Package – HK$789
- 1-Day Tickets – HK$639
- 2-Day Tickets – HK$904

For our day 2 in Hong Kong, we went to Lantau Island to see one of the biggest Buddha statues in the world.
This is one of the many kid-friendly places in Hong Kong as your children will surely immerse themselves in nature and learn about new cultures.
In fact, when we visited the island, we saw primary schoolers on their educational field trip.
You don’t have to walk up with your child as in the middle of it, you will surely need to carry them!

There are two ways to go to Lantau Island: first via Ngong Ping 360 cable car and second through a private or public vehicle.
For someone who’s afraid of heights, we opted to take the bus going up. But if you and your kids are game to experience the 360-degree views of Hong Kong, you surely can!
Fees for cable car:
- Round trip cable car (“Crystal”+ and Standard Cabin) – HK$360 for adults and HK$235 for children.

Boost your and your kid’s creativity by decorating a noodle cup or making noodles by yourselves! Of course, with the help of the staff, but it feels good to say it’s ours, right?
