Mums speak out
Here are suggestions from our readers about monitoring your menstrual cycle and other tips to conceive.
Vevian Kwok: Me and my hubby tried for exactly 1 year and then got pregnant. I always keep track of my period. Like, doing it on the 3rd day onwards after my period ends. I cut down on caffeine.
Doing it with the right mood on helps a lot. While you are having sex, don’t think of doing it because you want to get pregnant. Stress is also one of the reasons why you might not be pregnant yet. Enjoy the pleasure and I’m sure you’ll get pregnant very soon. And oh, doing it in the air con room helps too.
Stephanie Leong: Agrees with Vevian… I suggest to set the environment, you and hubby go away on a relaxing holiday on the days you’re fertile and just lay back and enjoy each other ^_^. Doesn’t have to be somewhere expensive, just away from the hustle and bustle… work, phones etc.
Azalia Huzaifah: I tested for my actual ovulation date, and did it. It worked after tracking a cycle! You can buy cheap test kits online from ebay, it’ll be less than $1 (inc shipping) per piece and they usually sell in bulk (25,50,100).Good luck!
Marjorie Gundran: My husbnd and I were also trying to conceive again, but..we havent …we failed.. my guess is to cut down few things on our lifestyle…and have a strict monitor on the monthly cycle.
Yuriko Chin: You must take folic acid too when preparing to get pregnant.
Teoh Trisya: It could be due to many reasons:
Q1: How long have you guys been trying? If more than 1 year then probably should go for a check with a gynae.
I had PCOS but my daughter is now 2 months old. I changed my lifestyle. I was overweight and stressed at my job. I lost 7kg before I managed to conceive and was taking things easier, more relaxed.
Q2: Are you overweight?
Q3: Are you stressed and not active in your daily life?
Q4: Is your menstrual cycle regular? Ovulation happens in the middle of your menstruation cycle normally. If your period is 28 days, ovulation should be on the 14th day, have intimate contact every 2 days from Day 7 onwards till day 21.
Stephanie is right, go somewhere for a holiday and relax. Turn off all handphones and gadgets, just relax and enjoy your time together…Good luck.
Eldric N Lea Tan: You must have the correct ambience while doing it…
Dun be too stressed out… Stress will mess up our menstrual cycle and the ovulation days..
Try to do it every 2 days during day 11 to day 17 of your menstrual cycle..
The sperm is able to survive in the vagina for 2 days or so (if it is healthy)..
All the best!! =)
Hsu Yamuna: Hi Teoh Trisya,
I also got PCOS and I conceived after I lost weight for my wedding…After giving birth is your menses regular?
Oops! Sorry for side tracking.
Do you know of a very effective Chinese physician in Jurong East? Many people, I think all who went to see her managed to conceive. You may wanna try it. If you want the contact let me know.
Sue Ronney: Hi,try doing it from 11th to 18th day from 1st day of menses…place a pillow under your hips while doing it and don’t get up for about a half hour. That’s to prevent sperm from flowing out due to gravity. Try it ok. Hope it works 🙂
Shee Min: Measure your early morning body temperature, this is the most accurate….but the rules is you have to minimise movement once wake up and immediately measure the temp.
Di Bustamante: Try hypnofertility.
Wendy Lee: After the act, you have to go pass urine. If u stay on the bed for too long, you may get UTI. That’s what the doctor told me.
Pamela Gordon: No hot baths/showers for hubby.
Mellyani Soegiarto: Pray to God…Jesus bless you!
