As a parent, many choices involve the baby products we use on our little ones, especially when it comes to their health and comfort. Ask any parent who has been round the block in search of diapers – the choices are seemingly endless when searching for one.
Like many mums, I often find myself looking for ways to provide the greatest comfort and protection for my baby’s delicate skin while keeping it soft, healthy and rash free for as long as possible. Much time is poured into researching the best diaper for my little critter. Lest to say, it has certainly been quite a journey in my bid to finding the right diaper, after trying numerous products one after another.
How this mum discovered that a good quality baby diaper is vital
From the time my boy was born and on total breastfeed, we easily used up to 10 diapers per day, as his poo was runny. We also discovered that some diapers:
- are thick and bulky, making it less breathable
- made of scratchy material, which irritated baby’s skin especially his diaper area
- are not as absorbent, leading to easily soiled diapers, frequent leaks, soiled clothes and bed sheets
These factors led to unnecessary trips to the paediatrician to treat his red angry bum, being rudely awakened in the middle of the night by a baby who has been sleeping in a wet diaper, and a lot of scrubbing and washing of soiled clothes. Above all was a mummy’s guilt of not being able to instantly soothe her baby’s discomfort due to a bad diaper rash.
