COVID-19: 7-year-old Among 106 New Cases of Coronavirus in Singapore
This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases here to 1,481.
106 new cases of coronavirus in Singapore were reported on Tuesday (7 April), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its daily update. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases here to 1,481.
All but three cases are imported, and among the local cases, 52 are linked to existing clusters. Contact tracing is ongoing for the remaining 41 currently unlinked cases.
Child, 7, among new cases of coronavirus in Singapore
Another child was also among the new cases confirmed cases reported on Tuesday.
The child, a 7-year-old male Singapore citizen was confirmed to have contracted the virus on Tuesday morning.
He is linked to a previously announced patient, case 1303, who is among the 120 cases reported on Sunday (5 April).
The child is currently warded at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
New cases linked to Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home
Among the new cases, three women aged 88 to 97 are linked to the Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home cluster, bringing the total cases linked to it to 16.
Discharged Cases
Another 33 patients were discharged on Tuesday, which means that a total of 377 cases have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
Of the 627 confirmed cases still in the hospital, most are stable or improving. Meanwhile, 29 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Based on MOH’s situation report on Tuesday, there are a total of 234 unlinked cases in Singapore since the start of the outbreak. Further investigation is ongoing.
Singapore has begun implementing it “circuit breakers” on Tuesday morning amid concerns over escalating COVID-19 infections in Singapore. These measures include closing of most workplaces islandwide and closure of non-essential businesses and services. Schools are moving to full home-based learning beginning Wednesday (8 April).
