9 cool ways to announce your pregnancy
9 cool ways to announce your pregnancy
Do you have a bun in the oven and want a creative way to break the big news to your husband, parents, family and friends? Here are 9 cool ways to announce your pregnancy and share the joy!
Shoes surprise
They say that shoes are the finishing touch to any outfit, and if you have ever seen those teeny tiny baby shoes in the shops before, you’re sure to squeal every time you imagine the adorable little feet that will fit inside them!
You don’t even have to say a word to your spouse or family members – just give them a present with a pair of cute little baby shoes inside and watch as their faces turn from slight confusion to absolute happiness.
Laundry of love
Hang up pint-sized baby clothes on the laundry line secretly and then casually ask your husband to help get you something from the wash.
At first, he might think that you shrunk the clothes or something, but soon it’ll dawn on him that there will be a new addition to the family in nine months!
Box of balloons
Get a bunch of baby-themed helium balloons, put them all in a large box and tie it shut with a large bow.
Give it as a gift to the one you are announcing the news to and stand back as they watch the cute balloons float up to reveal your surprise!
We recommend doing this indoors so that the balloons won’t float away and everyone will get the chance to fully register what the messages on the balloons are – plus, they also get a fun keepsake of the memorable day!
Congratulatory cake
Order a customised baby-themed cake that says, "Congratulations Daddy!" (or "Congratulations Grandma and Grandpa", or whoever you’re announcing the news to) and ask them to open the box to see the extra special sweet treat inside.
Plus, you get to celebrate the good news over some yummy slices of cake and (decaffeinated) tea or coffee too!
This is also a great idea for when you want to do a gender reveal, as you can have the cake on the inside (beneath all the cream or fondant) to be pink or blue, so that when you cut the cake, your eager family members will find out whether you're expecting a girl or a boy.
Special stork mail
Buy a small baby figurine (from a toy shop, gift shop, or even a cake topper from a baking supplies shop) and mail it to your unsuspecting spouse at his office or to your family member’s house.
Remember to include a sweet little note that says they will be expecting another delivery from the story in nine months’ time!
Pet parade
Enrol the help of your four-legged pal! Your sweet pet cat or dog (or rabbit!) can join in the fun to help announce the fantastic news by dressing up in baby clothes (just a bonnet or a bib that says "Big Sister/ Brother") and parading around the house.
At first, your husband might think you have lost your marbles and when he asks why you’re making Fluffy or Fido look like a baby, casually tell him that you’re "practicing", and give him a big smile!
He’s sure to get the hint and you’ll be happy that your beloved pet was there to help deliver the baby news too.
Eating for two
Get some baby food in those cute little jars (or if you have the time, you can easily whip some up yourself at home), and tell your husband you have a special meal in store for him.
Then when he’s seated and waiting for the delicious food to be served, bring out the baby food on a tray and place it down in front of him.
Tell him this is what will be on the menu once the little one arrives and we can guarantee you that this will be the best meal of his life!
Picture perfect
This might require a bit of waiting time so may work better for family members instead of your husband who we’re sure you’d be bursting to tell the good news to as soon as possible!
Once you get your very first ultrasound scan of your growing little bub, put it in a pretty picture frame and hang it or display it somewhere prominently in your home.
Invite your family over for brunch and see how long it takes for them to notice the new décor.
It will surely make the best conversation piece over your meal for the day!
Save the date
Typically used for weddings, this idea of asking your friends and family to "save the date" for your big day can also be used for your baby’s EDD (Estimated Delivery Date).
Create some cute cards and have them mailed to all your loved ones and wait for the phone to ring with excited calls and happy squeals of joy!
The cards also make lovely keepsakes for those you care about to add to their scrapbook to remind them about this special day.
