Confinement tea recipes

Besides being a soothing drink for frazzled nerves, tea has good antioxidant properties and makes for a great confinement recipe.

These confinement tea recipes are full of nutrients and goodness to help a new mummy recover faster. 

Honey dates, almond and walnut tea

What you need:

10-12 honey dates

½ cup of crushed almonds, skin removed

½ cups crushed walnuts

1 slice of ginger

1 litre water

What you do:

Put dates, walnuts, almonds and water in a pot over a medium fire.

Bring to a slow boil then let it simmer gently for ½ hour.

Strain the liquid into a flask or a container.

Ginger and red date tea

Serves 2

What you need:

50g fresh ginger, peeled and bruised

12 red dates

750ml water

30g-40g rock sugar, or to taste

What you do:

To make the drink, put all the ingredients in a pot, bring to a boil and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes.

Remove from heat and serve hot or warm.

Black Dates Tea

Serves 2

What you need

12 red dates, pitted

15black dates

15 g dried longan flesh

20 g tong sam

1.5 litres water

What you do

Combine all ingredients in a pressure cooker and boil on slow heat, preferably overnight.

Serve the tea warm.
