Clearblue - Maximise your chances of getting pregnant naturally

Are you planning on having a baby? A digital ovulation test that provides unmistakably clear test results is sure to make your journey to getting pregnant easier. Want to know why? Keep reading.

Women these days are pros at multi-tasking. They juggle successful careers, families and their social lives with ease and panache.

Such success takes quite a bit of planning to get perfect. So it is safe to assume that if you want to expand your family to include a little munchkin – that would take some planning too.

If you find yourself dreaming of expanding your family to include a little angel, that might involve some planning too!

However, once you’ve made the decision to try for a baby, you might be the recipient of unwarranted albeit well-meaning advice about fertility.

Myths and facts surrounding fertility

Some may tell you that you need to have sex every day in order to conceive or that, if you already have one child, conceiving another will be a walk in the park.

Planning for a baby shouldn’t be a stressful process.

These two statements are not completely true.

Having sex everyday to increase your chances of getting pregnant may seem like the sensible thing to do. However, did you know that in order to optimise chances of getting pregnant naturally, you actually need to have sex during your widest fertility window, i.e., the days you are ovulating and the few days leading up to ovulation.

Similarly, a second pregnancy isn’t always as easy as (or easier than) your first pregnancy. There’s really no sure-fire way of knowing how your journey getting pregnant the second time around will be.

Factors such as your age and lifestyle can also affect your journey.

For example, if your lifestyle includes having an alcoholic beverage or 2 daily, you may want to cut back on that to increase your chances of getting pregnant.

Although having sex daily in order to conceive isn’t necessary, nothing is stopping you from enjoying your journey to getting pregnant!

Although many know that the consumption of alcohol affects male fertility, only a few know that it also affects female fertility.

Considering all these factors, when it comes to planning a family, anything that could make the process even a tad easier would be very welcome and helpful.

If getting pregnant is your goal, little things like knowing when you are most fertile would definitely help you in your endeavour.

How can a home fertility test help?

Here’s where a simple at-home test like the Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test becomes a blessing.

A digital ovulation test gives you peace of mind by letting you know of your most fertile days (fertility window) more accurately than if you were to keep track of the days in your mind.

This knowledge also makes both your and your husband’s journey to conceiving less stressful and more enjoyable and spontaneous.

How does the Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test work?

clearblue

An example of how the LH surge could appear during a menstrual cycle.

There are only a few days per cycle that a woman’s fertility peaks. Evidence shows that this fertility window lasts for 6 days.

It starts approximately 5 days prior to ovulation and ends on the days of ovulation. Within this window there are 2 days when fertility peaks – the day before ovulation takes place and the day of ovulation itself.

The Clearblue ovulation test works to identify a woman’s fertility window by measuring levels of luteinising hormone (LH) in her urine.

LH levels rise tremendously 24-36 hours prior to ovulation and studies show that this LH surge is an accurate and reliable indicator of an impending ovulation.

In addition to this, extensive laboratory studies show that the Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test is over 99% accurate at detecting the LH surge before ovulation.

The Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test

A significant differentiator between the Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test and other ovulation tests is that Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test sets a unique hormone profile for the user.

So it gives personalised results by measuring a woman’s change in LH level from her personal baseline instead of measuring the LH surge compared to a general figure.

Using the Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test

Clearblue

How the Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test works.

The Clearblue Ovulation Test couldn’t be simpler to use. The test kit also includes a leaflet with detailed information on how to use the test.

Once you have worked out your cycle and know when to start testing, then all you need to do is insert the stick into the reader, wait for the unique flashing “test stick” symbol that shows the ovulation test is working (as shown in the diagram above) and pass urine onto the absorbent sampler.

The test results are very easy to read too and there’s no need to interpret coloured lines anymore.

The test will simply indicate peak fertility with a static smiley face [☺] or low fertility with a circle [O]. Yes, it is as simple as that!

Feedback from a Clearblue user – Why I use Clearblue

“Clearblue Ovulation Tests detect the Luteinizing Hormone (LH) surge which occurs approximately 24-36 hours prior to ovulation.

“This tells me the 2 best days of my cycle to conceive – the day before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself. Therefore I have the best chance of becoming pregnant.”

The Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test is available in all major retails outlets; Guardian, Watsons, Unity, hospitals and selected private clinics.
