Mum-To-Be Is Furious At Her Husband’s Reaction To Their Gender Reveal

A pregnant woman is furious that her husband made a scene after finding out their baby is a girl. But he says his wife is in the wrong for how she handled his gender disappointment!

Gender disappointment is real and there’s nothing wrong with admitting you had your hopes set on a baby of a particular sex, but it’s how you choose to react to the news that is most important.

One man couldn’t hide his disappointment when he learnt that his wife was having a baby girl, and his extreme reaction turned into a family affair with lots of finger pointing in various directions.

Finding Out Baby’s Sex Via Ultrasound

“Me and my husband have been married for two years. I’m now pregnant. First time and it’s been difficult. I have anemia but I’m getting treatment,” the woman wrote in her post to Reddit.

They were both excited to find out the sex of their baby despite the man being certain it would be a boy.

“Once the doctor said it was a girl, my husband’s face went red,” she continued.

“He stared at the doctor then started asking if she was sure 15 times. He asked if she was sure this wasn’t a ‘recorded’ footage of her previous patient which made me feel embarrassed because this was a dumb question.”

The doctor laughed it off at first and then explained to him how the ultrasound worked and pointed out the things that indicate the baby is a girl.

“He started lashing out blatantly saying he wasn’t expecting this and was in fact disappointed with the results,” she said, saying the final straw for her was when her husband insisted the doctor was wrong.

“I felt mad especially after he told the doctor we will be seeing another doctor then get back to her to tell her she got it wrong because he GUARANTEED it was a boy.”

Husband Was Furious That His Wife Was Not Supportive

The couple got into an argument when they returned home, with the wife saying she was “embarrassed” that he was rude to her and wasted her time. The husband was furious that his wife was not supportive, saying he had every right to be disappointed. He called his mum, she called him “childish” for running straight to his mother, and she left to go and stay with hers.

“He started texting saying [the] ultrasound wasn’t a good idea,” she said. “But he’ll just wait til our baby’s born to find out since tests can’t be 100 percent sure anyway.”

“Said he wasn’t trying to blame me for being pregnant with a girl but how I reacted to his reaction. He planned to have one kid and that’s it. Preferably a boy but it didn’t happen so he was disappointed.

The man blamed his wife for her overreaction, saying he “mishandled his gender-disappointment” and her own sister agreed saying she shouldn’t have tried to control his reaction.

Gender Disappointment Or Sexism?

Most people agreed that while the man has every right to be disappointed, his reaction would be a deal-breaker for them.

“If someone is this disappointed about having a daughter instead of a son, they’re sexist,” declared one redditor. “Also, you shouldn’t have to leave, especially while very pregnant, just because he is being an asshole. Also, your child being a daughter instead of a son is because his sperm gave the X chromosome, not Y. He could use an 8th grade biology lesson too.”

Another said, “Wow. Does he not realize that his sperm determined the gender of the baby? It’s HIS fault he’s having a girl! Gasp! He’s an ass and needs to get his crap together. It’s one thing to have a little disappointed letdown when you get yourself hyped for one sex or the other. It’s completely over the top to do what he did.”

“Run while you still can,” warned another.

Is this red flag so big you can see it from space?
