9 Best Places to go for Babymoon
9 Best Places to go for Babymoon
With all the planning and preparation that my husband and I were doing when I was pregnant, we sadly missed out on our one and only chance of going on a babymoon. Although he’d try to console me by saying that we could always plan a getaway with our 1-year-old daughter in tow, it just wouldn’t be the same as the 2 of us going on a holiday to enjoy some alone time before becoming a family of 3.
Inflight Silk Air
I don’t want other mums out there to feel the same way I did so, to make it easier for all you expecting mamas to plan that special trip before the big day, here’s a list of 9 best babymoon places to consider.
SilkAir’s beach destinations' flight times are below 5 hours, enough for mums-to-be to comfortably fly to. And whichever you choose to visit, a reliable flight schedule makes it easy to reach. Your journey there will be smooth too, with convenient online check-in, a satisfying inflight meal and SilkAir Studio to keep you entertained throughout your flight. Rates to various destinations are included on the next pages!
1. Cebu - $289
The hub of the Visayas region in the Philippines, Cebu is a cosmopolitan place offering a variety of island adventures.
Known for its great diving spots, which may not be recommended for preggy mamas but will be certainly enjoyed by the mister, you may just opt to languidly enjoy its white sand beaches.
With several first-class resorts and hotels with astounding views of the ocean, you will enjoy a taste of paradise that Cebu uniquely offers. Make sure to try the lechon or roasted suckling pig that Anthony Bourdain declared to be the best in the world! A preggy mama is allowed to indulge once in a while.
2. Da Nang - $369
Da Nang is a little unknown paradise in central Vietnam that’s currently relatively untouched by mass tourism — making it the perfect babymoon destination for couples looking for some quiet time together.
Expose your baby early to Asian history and culture: Besides being surrounded by powdery sandy beaches that overlook the South China Sea, Da Nang is also close to several UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Ancient Town of Hoi An, My Son (an archaeological site which has been around for more than 1,000 years) and the Imperial City of Hue. So there’s plenty to see and do during your trip to Da Nang, perfect for making memories of the two of you, before the little one arrives.
First-time mum Tina George suggests Fusion Maia Spa Resort for couples who are looking to go on a babymoon to Da Nang. One of the top-rated spa resorts in the port city, rates at Fusion Maia include buffet breakfast and 2 spa treatments a day. According to Tina, you can also request for additional spa treatments during your stay there, as long as the spa is not fully booked during that time. "The spa treatments available to me were limited [at that time] due to my pregnancy, but I had a great time nonetheless," she adds.
3. Kota Kinabalu - $279
A city overlooking the sea, Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Sabah, Malaysia. Enjoy nature and wildlife tours, visit Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park or wander along the Kota Kinabalu night market for some night time food adventures.
For a one of a kind experience that will surely bond you together during your babymoon, go visit the Mari Mari Cultural Village to get a glimpse of some of the different indigenous tribes. Though set up in the jungle, the place is easy to explore by walking -- a perfect gentle exercise for you, your spouse and your bump.
4. Davao - $479
Samal Island in Davao is considered to be one of the best beaches in the Philippines. Just a few minutes away from Davao City, Samal Island offers stunning views and varied activities. For pregnant you, do stay at the Pearl Farm Beach Resort. It's the perfect place to laze around, enjoy great food, and gaze in wonder at the majestic Mt. Apo, the country's highest mountain.
Once you've had your fill of the scenic wonders in Samal Island, take a few days exploring the city itself for a taste of a laid-back and charming country life with all the conveniences of a big city.
5. Langkawi - $199
If you're tired of the city scene and eager to have a restful break before sleepless nights and changing diapers rule your life, visit and wander around Langkawi's rice paddies, complete with a rice museum and a restaurant next to it.
Of course, Langkawi's beaches are gorgeous too, the most popular of which is Pantai Cenang. Since you most probably won't be in the mood for high risk activities such as parasailing, jetski island hopping, and riding one of the steepest cable car rides in the world (your husband might, though), you can just enjoy the eco tours that are being offered in Langkawi.
6. Lombok - $339
What can you see in Lombok? A lot, apparently! Visit the Pusuk Monkey Forest to see monkeys feeding their kids -- something that you would be doing soon!
But if you have your heart set out on just idling by the beach, Lombok has a lot to offer too! Check out the Gili paradise islands that are great for plain hanging out.
7. Bali - $279
If you’re looking for ideas on what to do during your babymoon in Bali, perhaps you could follow the footsteps of theAsianparent reader, Cindy Gan who went on a babymoon to the Island of Gods last July to catch the Kite Festival. Besides that, Cindy also did some swimming and had a prenatal massage during the trip, and enjoyed some beach time with hubby and their baby in her tummy.
8. Phuket - $239
The largest island in Thailand and blessed with scenic beaches, Phuket has long been a destination for honeymooners, backpackers and all kinds of travellers.
As babymooners, what else can you do other than default beach getaway? Try going on a tour of the Chalong Bay Rum Distillery -- your husband will love you more for it! Let him drink and be merry before he goes on daddy duty. Some of the things that you can do together, though, are to pamper yourselves at luxurious spas, take cooking classes to learn traditional Thai dishes, and watch the best sunset from Phromthep Cape.
9. Koh Samui - $409
Koh Samui in Thailand has a lot to offer. The Angthong National Marine Park with white sand beaches and thick mangroves and the picturesque Na Muang waterfalls are must-visit attractions for an eco-friendly babymoon experience.
