Ask the expert about cough and sore throat remedies for kids

Our expert, Dr Chuang Jee Leng, a paediatric doctor at The Baby & Child Clinic is here to answer your questions on cough and sore throat remedies for kids.

During the flu season, your child may come down with a head cold that results in a chesty cough and sore throat. This coughing spell and throat inflammation can cause a lot of discomfort to your little one, especially if it is keeping her up all night.

Having a cough and sore throat can make your child more irritable than usual.

Despite the discomfort, there is not much you can do to soothe your child’s condition. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) does not recommend cough medication for children under the age of four because most contain potentially harmful or even fatal substances. On the other hand, medical experts recommend that sore throat in children below two years old is tackled by increasing their fluid intake, rather than relying on medication.

So what are your options to relieve your child’s coughing spells and the pain and inflammation of her sore throat?

Leftose and theAsianparent have teamed up to help you

Our expert, Dr. Chuang Jee Leng from The Baby & Child Clinic, will be answering your questions on dealing with various types of coughs and sore throat in kids.

You can get Leftose tablets or syrup from your doctor or the nearest pharmacy.

You can also get Dr. Chuang’s advice on safe and effective medication and remedies for kids, such as Leftose tablets and syrup, which are commonly prescribed by doctors for both kids and adults.

Leftose contains lysozyme, the all-natural active ingredient that breaks down phlegm and soothes inflammation in the throat.

Dr. Chuang will personally go through all the questions received, and provide her answers four weeks after submission.
