(26–27 July 2025) “Together, We Can” – 1,800 Shavees Unite at VivoCity to Support Children with Cancer

More than 1,800 Singaporeans are gathering at VivoCity this weekend (26–27 July 2025) to shave their heads in solidarity with children battling cancer. This marks the return of Hair for Hope (HfH) 2025, the Children’s Cancer Foundation’s (CCF) signature fundraising and awareness movement.

Themed “Together, We Can”, this year’s campaign is a powerful call for Singaporeans to unite in support of children with cancer and their families, fostering empathy and reducing stigma surrounding hair loss during treatment.

Since its inception in 2003, Hair for Hope has become Singapore’s largest head‑shaving movement, attracting over 75,000 shavees and raising $54 million to date.

A New Chapter: SPS Eric Chua Appointed CCF Patron

In a significant leadership milestone, Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Law and Ministry of Social and Family Development, was appointed as CCF’s new Patron, succeeding Professor Ho Peng Kee, who served for nearly 30 years.

“It is a great honour to be appointed Patron of CCF. The Foundation has stood by children and families through some of their toughest moments. I look forward to walking alongside CCF to build a more compassionate and supportive society for children with cancer,” said Mr Chua.

Ambassadors of Hope: Stories That Inspire

Hair for Hope 2025 is championed by eight ambassadors, including survivors, volunteers, educators, and public personalities. Among them:

  • Jordan Tan (Beneficiary Ambassador) – Diagnosed with intracranial germ cell tumours at nine, Jordan’s resilience continues to inspire.

  • Gurmit Singh (Celebrity Ambassador) – The beloved entertainer lends his voice to advocate for love and support for children with cancer.

  • Mona Ee (Corporate Ambassador) – Has shaved her head every year since 2009, showing unwavering solidarity.

  • Dr Amit Jain (Volunteer Ambassador) – A medical oncologist stepping up to raise awareness for young cancer fighters.

  • Jason Ong (Community Ambassador) – A long-time supporter who has participated since 2008.

These ambassadors embody the “Together, We Can” spirit, sharing personal stories to raise awareness and hope.

Platinum Supporters Driving Change

This year’s campaign recognises Platinum Supporters who have each raised $200,000 or more, including:

  • Government Technology Agency (GovTech) – Championing tech for public good.

  • PhillipCapital – Supporting communities through its integrated financial services.

  • Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery – One of Southeast Asia’s most significant Buddhist monasteries, committed to community service.

Their contributions sustain critical programmes that enhance the lives of children with cancer and their families.

The Impact of Hair for Hope

Organised annually by CCF, Hair for Hope is more than a fundraising event – it is a movement of solidarity.

Key Highlights of HfH 2025:

  • Campaign Period: 1 April – 18 August 2025

  • Main Event: 26 & 27 July, VivoCity (11am–7pm Saturday, 11am–6pm Sunday)

  • Target: Unite 6,000 shavees and raise $6 million to fund psychosocial support, education, palliative care, and financial assistance.

By shaving their heads, participants “Make a BALD Statement”, showing children it is okay to be bald and that they are not alone in their fight.

CCF’s Lifesaving Work

Founded in 1992, the Children’s Cancer Foundation provides holistic support through its Biopsychosocial-Spiritual (BPSS) model of care, including:

  • Psychosocial Support: Casework, counselling, art therapy, and play therapy.

  • Education Assistance: Academic support through initiatives like PALS.
