From 29 June, patrons of East Coast park will be thrilled with the reopening of Marine Cove, which was closed to the public in 2012 for redevelopment.
Newly revamped Marine Cove at East Coast Park
The newly revamped park will feature more parking lots as well as dining options such as Babalicious, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, My Briyani House and Hill Street Coffee Shop. The very popular McDonald’s will also return to East Coast Park.
There will also be a new standalone public toilet facility which incorporates toilets, sinks and shower facilities tailored to young children.
However, the highlight of Marine Cove would be their 3,500sqm children’s playground.
The playground comes with a range of equipment suitable for children for all ages. Features such as the three-storey play tower, which comes with three slides of different levels and a rope bridge are suitable for kids aged 5-12 years old.
There will be a play area that comes with talking tubes, fun mirrors and a drum set, suitable for the little ones aged 2-5 years old.
Additionally, the playground will come with a variety of play equipment that enables kids to play together. Including special needs equipment such as sensory play panels.
There is a new linkway built to connect the dining outlets with the nearby underpass to Marine Terrace, making it more conveniently accessible.
Car park C2 will have 331 parking lots, with 36 motorcycle lots and four handicapped lots, while car park C3 will have 99 parking lots, with 24 motorcycles lots and two handicapped lots.
The walking paths have also been revamped to be more wheelchair and stroller friendly.
“With the redevelopment, more open spaces have been freed up at Marine Cove and park users will have a clear view of the sea,” Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, who is a Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC, mentioned in his Facebook post on Friday, 24 June.
