Picollo House: Unique Kids room Ideas

Paint colour, furniture and perhaps a mat or two, is what most Singapore parents would answer when asked how they would decorate their kids bedroom. Is there really all there is to decorate a childs bedroom? What about plush toys, themed walls and additional fittings?

Room It!

We have come across little boys with boundless energy, shut in a blue room, with blue sheets, blue curtains and just about everything else drenched in blue. If that doesn’t make any child feel down and, pardon the pun, blue, I don’t know what else will.

Girls are not spared either. A typical girl’s room would make Pink Panther himself run away from the colour. Do rooms always have to be segregated by colours due to the children’s genders?

If you’re stumped for ideas for a nursery, you’re not alone. Parents usually paint nursery rooms in pastel colours however the baby is going to grow up and the pastels are going to look dull when he does. One way is to play around with primary colours, red, blue and green. However refrain from mixing these colours together too much. A certain amount of thinking and planning should be dedicated to decorating.

It is never advisable to put a study table within a sleeping area. However if space is a problem, try placing the study table in a corner and furthest away from the bed. According to Piccolo House’s Stacy Png, an ideal room should have a play corner, with throw pillows perhaps, where the child can feel comfortable and happy without using his bed. This corner will provide them with a sense of belonging.

The two things parents look at when purchasing for Junior is functionality and practicality. Catering to parents’ wishes and even listening to Junior’s idea of what he wants, is what Piccolo House excels in.

At Piccolo House, themes for children are divided into two groups. The first is for babies and toddlers and the second is for children from 3-6 years of age. Piccolo House provides a unique service of spray painting. If parents want to change the looks of the furniture, they can just hop on down to Piccolo House and choose another colour to suit Junior’s age. Beds can be purchased by interest-free installment. Not only do parents turn to Png and her creative ideas but childcare centres too request her help in decorative measures.

“It’s their refuge. It’s where they will seek to escape, have fun and let their imagination run wild” Png notes of the importance of a room to children. “Also, I believe that children should have a good memory of their first room or playroom and always be able to look back on that happy moment of time when they had fun just pasting DIY stickers on the wall or having secret tea parties in their little cosy corners. These may seem simple to us adults but to children, it’s something they will carry on remembering long into life,” she explains.

So still sitting on a can of blue paint and wondering how to make Junior’s room outstanding and the envy of his friends who will come to visit? Hop on down to Piccolo House’s showroom at 10 Ubi Crescent or visit the website at Piccolo-house.com
