How Long Should a Paedophile Stay in Jail?
Recently, sexual predator, Huang Shiyou’s appeal for a shorter jail term was denied by the Court of Appeal. He was sentenced to a 32-year term imprisonment for sexually molesting nine girls between the ages of 9 and 14. According to The Straits Times, Judge Andrew Phang said that the 23-year old was a menace to the society and is likely to assault young girls again if released too early.
Justice V.K. Rajah added, “There’s a school of thought that paedophiles who attack young children should be put away indefinitely.”
Do you agree that paedophiles should be sentenced to an indefinite jail term? Is 10 to 20 years in jail enough to rehabilitate a sexual molester? Should they be given life imprisonment instead?
