Exercise Prevents Bone Loss in Breastfeeding Moms
According to a study conducted by a team from the American College of Sports Medicine, new mothers who are breastfeeding their newborn babies should engage in aerobic and resistance exercises to compensate for bone loss caused by calcium depletion.
Researchers discovered that mothers transfer a minimum of 200 mg of their own calcium supply to the breast milk. So while breastfeeding, mothers should do some exercise routines to slow down the rate of their bone loss and to prevent osteoporosis. As an added benefit, exercise also helps new mothers shed off the excess pounds.
