Creating a Chinese Language Speaking Environment

According to the Ministry of Education (MOE), the number of students, taking Higher Chinese at O-levels, has increased. More students are now more interested in taking Higher Chinese Classes because lessons are now more interesting. According to Education Minister Dr. Ng Eng Hen, the teaching of the Mother Tongue language is constantly reviewed so that it will always be engaging.

More effort is put in the teaching of the Chinese Language as there are a lot of programmes competing for the students’ attention, and most of them are in English. Dr. Ng wants to create an environment that will help students to proficiently use the language. But he said that the MOE cannot do the job on their own. They need other sectors in the society to help them achieve this goal.
